While the free movement in the European Union has been already largely restored, lots of other countries remain closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which is a great complication for many people. In the Czech Republic, this poses a significant problem especially for those foreigners whose visa has expired after March 12 and who can stay in the country only until July 16 but at the same time cannot return to their country of origin.
If you have been in Brno for at least a couple days, you must have heard about Cejl. This area is located just a stone thrown away from the historic city, among the Svitava river. It used to be the heart of textile factories and home to their employees who took their part in an important change of Brno into an industrial city. Nowadays, Cejl is one of the crucial streets in Brno, where the town hall offers cheaper flats for people. The area’s history is still following it mercilessly, though. Is it a district suitable for living for its location and better rental prices?

Some of us go abroad for studying, working or perhaps when following our life partner to their homeland. Some of us like to travel far and long to discover unfamiliar corners of the world. Reasons for leaving a home country are many but they all have connecting elements, not all of them necessarily being pleasant and commonly talked about – cultural shock, loneliness, even depression can hit once you root yourself out of the familiar land and try to plant yourself in a new geographical and cultural environment.
Mould is a fungus and, as typical in these tiny organisms, you may observe it growing in humid corners despite your careful regular cleaning and maintenance of your house. As you might already know, it can cause a lot of damage to the walls and furniture, but worse than that, it can cause breathing and skin problems if you are in contact with it regularly. For these reasons, you should be mindful and try to prevent mould appearing in your house in the first place.
Everyone probably has some ideas about their perfect home, but regardless of our individual demands and requirements, we all may have one thing in common: We want our home to have a soul; something interesting that would tell us its story as soon as we open the door. And that is exactly what Domeq is about. In this article, you’ll read what its coordinator Veronika Svobodová told us about it and why it is such a cool place for living.
My internship in the Czech Republic didn’t turn out to be quite close to what I’d expected when I was applying last year. I was looking forward to taking advantage of living in central Europe and traveling around. But who could predict such an outcome either way? A pandemic? Really? Are these the 90s or something?

But every storm subsides. This quarantine did too. Patience was the key to it all. Patience, positivity, and a well-structured routine to get through your day.
