If you’re a fan of ballet, you can start dusting off your fanciest dresses and suits! On 8 February 2022, do not miss Ludwig Minkus’s La Bayadère Gala presented by National Theatre Brno and starring principal Royal Ballet London dancers in lead roles. This premiere will take place in Janáček Theatre and there are still tickets up for grabs. Snatch them before they’re gone!
La Bayadère Gala is a story of forbidden love.
Brno welcomes London’s stars
If you have a taste for world-renowned ballet dancers, you will be glad to know that there’s no need to leave the Czech Republic to satisfy it. All you need to do is come to (some of) National Theatre Brno’s shows. This is good news especially in these uncertain times, as traveling too much can be tricky due to the risk of the spread of COVID-19.
This February, you definitely do NOT want to miss La Bayadère Gala – a ballet by Austrian composer Ludwig Minkus. This ballet is undoubtedly the event of the season, particularly if you’re a fan of dance! If you go, you’ll be able to see shining stars from the Royal Ballet London in lead roles, including Vadim Muntagirov and Fumi Kaneko.
It is also worth mentioning that this ballet has waited for its Czech premiere for 126 years, so it truly is a special event you want to be a part of.
Exotic dance story about forbidden love
And what is it all about? Minkus’s La Bayadère Gala tells a forbidden love story between a temple dancer Nikiya (Fumi Kaneko) and a military commander Solor (Vadim Muntagirov). Their love makes many people angry, including Solor’s fiancée. In the end, the love between Nikiya and Solor is unfulfilled as Solor dies tragically after he’s been bitten by a viper hidden in a flower basket.
The renewed premiere is presented in a new stage design by Slovak artist Marek Hollý in Janáček Theatre (Rooseveltova 31 in Brno) on 8 February 2022 at 7 p.m.
The show will last until 9.25 p.m. Dress warmly and have fun!
