Do you want to feel like you are in India while living in Brno? Perhaps because you come from this country or you visited and enjoyed it? Nonetheless, if you grab your chance and go to the city’s small Prabhupad Bhavan – Iskcon temple, (Hare Krishna temple) you might believe you are in the real India for a moment.
Brno is a captivating city with great buildings and magnificent architecture. I love photography and exploring new cities. So, not long after moving from Wroclaw, Poland, to Brno, I was searching for some Indian restaurants near my new home in Brno. While I was looking for good restaurants, I learnt about Prabhupad Bhavan – Iskcon temple, (Hare Krishna Temple), located on Durďákova 341/34, 613 00 Brno-North-Černá Pole. You can take trams 3, 5 or 9 from Česká tram station, and step out at Dětská nemocnice station. Then you walk for about four minutes (300 m) from the station straight to your left.

Prabhupad Bhavan is a preaching centre of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), or the Hare Krishna movement, situated in Brno. Prabhupad Bhavan was founded in summer 2010 from the original Brno centre called Nama-hatta when four devotees came here from the Prague temple Sri Sri Nitai Navadvipacandra.

Every day from 4:30 AM they have programmes in the Bhavan as follows:
04:30 Mangala-arati
05:00 Personal Japa meditation
07:30 Srila Prabhupada Guru Puja
07:50 A lecture based on Srimad Bhagavatam
08:30 Breakfast
15:00 Lunch
18:00 Gaura arati and reading about Srila Prabhupada (from 19:00 on Saturdays)

Moreover, every Sunday from 14:00, they have other activities:
- Singing Hare Krishna Mahamantra accompanied by traditional Indian instruments, mantra meditation.
- A lecture from Bhagavad-Gita on themes like karma, reincarnation, mind, consciousness, the meaning of life, god, soul, questions and answers.
- A delicious vegetarian feast, food for the soul – Karma free.
- Offer of spiritual books.

Also, about 50 km from Brno in Skavsko, their preaching centre has opened The farm Nava Gokula. The Nava Gokula farm aims to demonstrate to people the idea of simple living and high thinking as an alternative to the modern materialistic and misguided society.

I would suggest visiting the Iskcon temple on Sunday since you can experience more programmes and practices. In case you want to know more about their upcoming events, you can always look here. Enjoy your time in Iskcon! 🙂
