The 23 day of Advent: Christmas Recipe of Beehives

Do you already have any plans for the Christmas holiday? What about baking? Besides watching Christmas movies, you can make delicious cookies by yourself! Isn’t it a great way of spending your free time? Maybe it could be a present for your friends or family, the gifts made by yourself are always the best ones! 

Advent is slowly going to end, and it means that the Christmas holidays are finally beginning. This time we have prepared for you the recipe for the traditional Christmas Czech cookies called Beehives. In Czech, it’s Včelí úly. The name comes from its form because it is supposed to look like Beehives. So how to make it? 

The name Beehives comes from its form.

Here are the ingredients you will need: 

For dough:

  • 80 g butter
  • 4 tablespoons rum
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 180 g sugar flour
  • 200 g crushed sponge cookies 

For filling:

  • 100 g butter
  • 2 tablespoons rum
  • 1 yolk
  • 80 g sugar flour
  • 1 tablespoon condensed milk

First, you should take a big bowl and mix the crushed sponge cookies, sugar, softened butter, rum, and cocoa. Then make the dough with your hands, mixing it all together. When the dough is ready, cover the bowl with something and leave it for a while. 

Meanwhile, make the filling. Whisk the yolk and add the softened butter, sugar flour, and rum to it. After putting all ingredients together, beat it properly. 

You can use the special form or make Beehives with your hands.

For the second step, you need to have special forms, which look like Beehives. Take the form and spill flour into it and after that put the dough in it.

if you will spread the dough in the same pieces. Then make the holes in the dough and put them in the filling. After that flip the cookies and tap on them. When the Beehives are ready put them in the fridge for a while.
