Czech School Holidays in 2016-2017

Do you live in the Czech Republic together with your family? If you have kids of school age it might be useful to be aware of their holidays in the 2016/2017 school year calendar so you can plan on your days off or alert grandparents and babysitters.

Though pupils and students have just returned to classes, there are holidays coming at the end of next month. Then, children will stay home for Christmas and come back to schools on Tuesday, January 3rd. The first semester will finish on Monday, January 31st, followed by one day out of school at the end of that week.

 Autumn holidays: Wednesday, October 26th – Thursday, October 27th

Christmas holidays: Friday, 23rd to Monday, January 2nd

1-day holiday between semesters: Friday, February 3rd

The spring break is divided into 6 regions. In this period the schools are closed for 1 week. In Prague the period depends on in which district the school is located. Kids attending Brno schools will enjoy their spring time off in the middle of March:

February 6th – 12th (Praha 6 – 10, Cheb, Karlovy Vary, Sokolov, Nymburk, Jindřichův Hradec, Litoměřice, Děčín, Přerov, Frýdek – Místek)

February 13th – 19th (Kroměříž, Uherské Hradiště, Vsetín, Zlín, Praha – východ, Praha – západ, Mělník, Rakovník, Plzeň – město, Plzeň – sever, Plzeň – jih, Hradec Králové, Teplice, Nový Jičín)

February 20th – 26th (Česká Lípa, Jablonec nad Nisou, Liberec, Semily, Havlíčkův Brod, Jihlava, Pelhřimov, Třebíč, Žďár nad Sázavou, Kladno, Kolín, Kutná Hora, Písek, Náchod, Bruntál)

February 27th – March 5th (Mladá Boleslav, Příbram, Tábor, Prachatice, Strakonice, Ústí nad Labem, Chomutov, Most, Jičín, Rychnov nad Kněžnou, Olomouc, Šumperk, Opava, Jeseník)

March 6th – 12th (Benešov, Beroun, Rokycany, České Budějovice, Český Krumlov, Klatovy, Trutnov, Pardubice, Chrudim, Svitavy, Ústí nad Orlicí, Ostrava – město)

March 13th – 19th (Praha 1 – 5, Blansko, Brno – město, Brno – venkov, Břeclav, Hodonín, Vyškov, Znojmo, Domažlice, Tachov, Louny, Prostějov, Karviná)

After the spring break children can look forward to relax for two days on Easter. The report card day is issued on Friday, June 30th.

Easter holidays: Thursday, April 13th – Friday, 14th

Summer holidays: Saturday, July 1st – Friday, September 1st

The school year 2017/2018 will start on Monday, September 4th.
