In connection with the state of the emergency in the Czech Republic and the prevention of coronavirus, the activities at the offices of the Ministry of the Interior dealing with foreigners’ residence permits will be limited from 16 March 2020. Only absolutely necessary tasks will be performed at the offices.
As stated in this article, expats who were legally on the territory of the Czech Republic at the moment of the declaration of the state of emergency (March 12) – may stay in the country for the duration of the state of emergency without any need to resolve their residency status issues.
Those foreign nationals who are out of the Czech Republic and want to come back but they don’t have a valid residence permit are banned to enter the Czech territory during the state of emergency unless they obtain the temporary residence certificate.
As MOI proclaims, applications, notifications or any other submissions, which do not have to be delivered in person, must be sent by post to the address of the locally assigned office of the Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic or to the data box of the Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic (ID DS 6bnaawp)!
Submissions requiring personal participation by law must be dealt with only after the end of the state of emergency. All deadlines are automatically extended.
The following measures take place at the offices of the Ministry of the Interior from March 16, 2020:
- ONLY CLIENTS WITH AN APPOINTMENT WILL BE SERVICED
You can arrange your appointment just by phone or electronically at https://frs.gov.cz/ if online ordering is available at the locally assigned office of the Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic.
Arranging your appointment will be possible ONLY for the following tasks:
- registration upon arrival (only by phone)
- acquisition of biometric data (only by phone)
- issue of residence permits
- issuing of the bridging label (i.e. confirmation of legality of your stay)
All existing reservations for any other actions are canceled.
- VISIT WITHOUT ARRANGING YOUR APPOINTMENT IN ADVANCE will be possible ONLY for the purpose of issuing the BRIDGING LABEL (i.e. confirmation of legality of your stay).
Bridging labels will be issued on Monday and Wednesday 9 AM – 12 PM (updated on March 20) only if the client proves that they need to travel abroad – reservation is not enough, they need to submit a travel ticket/flight ticket.
