Liberation festival, Beer festival or Movie festival – Pilsen has it all

Fresh festival

Fresh ingredients, fresh ideas and excellent cooks – that is the Fresh festival. It is the largest gastronomical event in the Pilsen region, located behind the Plaza shopping mall. You will get a chance to taste both foreign and Czech cuisine during the weekend of 19 – 20 May.

The ticket price is 150 to 250 CZK, you can read more about the event and book your tickets here. Just a small tip: this festival takes place in other Czech cities as well, namely in Brno, Pardubice, Olomouc and Liberec. But be aware that the dates differ for each city!

Liberation festival

In honor of the liberation of Pilsen in 1945 by the American army, the city organizes aLiberation festival each year. The festival is full of interesting activities, historical military camps with examples of the soldiers’ and civilians’ lives from that period, a convoy of historical military vehicles and many more. This year it takes place from the 5th of May until the 8th of May and it has free entrance. Read more here. 

International Folklore festival

Folk costumes, folklore music and dances. Folklore, folklore and more folklore. Sounds interesting? Come to the historical city centre the first weekend of May. It is free of charge, just stop by to experience the traditional dances and get inspired by the dancers! Read more here. 

A Day in the Air

Whether your hobby is creating models of planes, flying itself or you are interested in airplanes – A day in the air is a great way to discover some new models of planes and see them in reality. It takes place by the end of April. Read more here. 

Traditional Markets  

Pilsen offers traditional markets – Martin´s, Christmas, Easter, Havel´s or Vencelas. All of them are fun, make the city pump with energy and are a great place to meet other people. Read more about these markets here

Finals Pilsen – Movies Competition

Are you a fan of movies? Come to Finals Pilsen. This year it takes place between September 22nd and 27th. This annual competitive and balanced screening of Czech feature-length films. The original program corresponds with recognized world festivals and is the only similar platform in the Czech Republic. Read more here. 

Festival Minipivovarů

Another festival that takes place in September is Sunshine in Glass – festival of honest beer. As beer is a typical Czech drink, make sure to come to try some! It takes place in Pivovarský dvůr Plzeň. Read more here.
