Pilsner Cultural Year of 2025

Year 2025 brings many anniversaries for Pilsen which are great reasons for celebrations and cultural gatherings. Let’s check them out:

  • 10-year anniversary of European Capital of Culture 2015
  • 80-year anniversary of WWII end
  • 730-year anniversary of Pilsen foundation

The big first opportunity to see a spectacular show is coming already in March and it’s called PLZEŇ 2025 – OPEN UP! On Saturday, March 8, a more than four-hour programme will take place on náměstí Republiky. The show will offer video mapping, giant light puppets and light show. The event is free and repeating in three time slots: 6:30-7:30 PM, 8:00-9:00 PM and 9:30-10:30 PM. Gastro zones on the square guaranteed.

The next event is another light show and the well-known light festival Blik-Blik Festival. This year Blik Blik festival celebrates 10 years of being with the theme Contrasts. It will take place on Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd March in the centre of Pilsen.

The Liberation Festival Pilsen, May 2 – 6, ensures rich programme, unique atmosphere with military camps and Convoy of Liberty. The 80-year anniversary promises a breath-taking experience.

In the last June week street art festival WALLZ will be held. The graffiti artists from all over the world come to Pilsen and refine the neglected and decrepit areas with their bright colours.

August will bring the Festival on the Street. This year the festival is happening August, 15 – 23. It is a multigenre festival (mixture of various concerts, dance performances, activities for children, public readings and workshop) held under the summer sky in the historical centre.

Pilsen in Light is a spectacular acrobatic show that will take place September, 12 – 14.
