Good to be back

Ever since I visited Brno last year, I always wanted to come back. Beyond that Brno is a beautiful city, with all the historical buildings and main touristic spots perfectly intact, the people from here accept foreigners very well.  They are very friendly and they are always ready to help a foreigner looking for help.

And don´t think that you can get to know the city in one or two days. There are a lot of places to visit and t

Starting with the touristic spots, the city centre has most of them. Around the city we can visit several churches and cathedrals starting with the St. Peter and Paul’s Cathedral, St. Thomas’s church or The Red church.

Other spot to visit is the Spilberk castle. The climbing is very challenging, but worth it for the amazing castle and the great view of the city.

As a curiosity, we can visit the dragon that terrorized the city that in the in the end was a crocodile, and the astronomical clock that gives out glass marbles at 11 o’clock every day. I still haven’t got mine. I have to go there one day to get it.

Something that I really like in this city is that there is numerous green spaces where we can enjoy the fresh air, take a walk or even work out. Normally this is something that is missing in the big cities.

After visiting the city, it is time to relax and have some fun. In Brno there are a lot of pubs and clubs where you can choose from a great menu of beers including the most famous or traditional ones, or listen to some good music. So far my favorite Pub is Pegas, a place with great environment where we can drink high quality beer for a very affordable price.

One of the things that I want to do, but I still hadn’t the opportunity, is going to watch the no. 1 sport in Czech Republic, Ice Hockey. It is a sport that I haven´t opportunity to see in Portugal, but I can’t wait to do it in Brno.

Besides all of these, I think there is a lot still to do or see.

So, if you are thinking to visit Prague, Budapest, Bratislava or Vienna, come to Brno as well. It is on the way and there are excellent transports to go to all the other cities.

For those who just started living in Brno like me, I hope I can meet you here and maybe even at one of our MeetUps organized by Foreigners.cz.
