Being able to use public transportation is essential while living in Prague. It goes everywhere, its incredibly inexpensive, and it is the fastest mode of transportation available. However, you may be wondering how to get a pass for this system. You can get a single ride pass or a day pass from any vending kiosk, but if you’re in the city for a long time, you’re going to want to apply for OpenCard. The town hall is located near the Narodni Trida Metro and Tram stop. Once you get to the building, walk inside and follow the Opencard footprints and blue light path on the ceiling, as you can see in the .gif above, to the office. You need to walk all the way through the whole office to get to OpenCard. But before you get to the office, make sure you pick up a number at the number kiosk on the way.
Once you get to the office, you will find an application for the OpenCard. It takes about 5-10 minutes to fill out, so while you are waiting for them to call your number, you can fill out the application. The number from your ticket will show up on the screen when they are ready for you, and you will go to the corresponding agent table on the screen to get your card set up. If you want the card to be instantly produced right then and there, it costs 200 Kc. If you have them send it by post, the price drops to 150 Kc. And finally, if you want to pick up the card in two weeks, the price drops again to 100 Kc. That’s a pretty good deal. Also when you’re there, they will ask you what kind of package you want for your OpenCard. The package details are available online, or you can check out the article about how to “top off” your OpenCard. If you have any questions or comments, please leave them below! Thank you for reading, and we hope we helped!
