{"id":21894,"date":"2020-09-15T11:25:06","date_gmt":"2020-09-15T09:25:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.foreigners.cz\/?p=21894"},"modified":"2020-10-16T13:43:27","modified_gmt":"2020-10-16T11:43:27","slug":"expats-czech-republic-integration-courses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.foreigners.cz\/expats-czech-republic-integration-courses\/","title":{"rendered":"Some Expats in the Czech Republic Will Have to Undergo Integration Courses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Some <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.foreigners.cz\/best-destination-expats-czech-republic-ranked-10th\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>expats living in the Czech Republic<\/b><\/a><b> will have to undergo special integration courses that are expected to start taking place from January 2021 according to a new decree proposed by the Ministry of the Interior. During these courses, they should learn for example, about <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.foreigners.cz\/spring-customs-in-czechia-burn-witches-and-kiss-your-love\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>customs<\/b><\/a><b> and the <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.foreigners.cz\/ways-to-learn-czech-and-cce-exam-in-prague\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Czech language<\/b><\/a><b>, but also about the issue of domestic violence. The draft of this decree was recently sent for the comment procedure.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h3><b>What Is the Purpose of These Courses?<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The reason behind this proposal of the Czech Ministry of the Interior is the Ministry\u2019s effort to prevent expats from socially isolating themselves from the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.foreigners.cz\/are-czechs-tolerant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Czech society<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, help them get used to a completely new foreign environment and to acquaint them with their rights and obligations. According to the Ministry, it should also contribute to reducing the risk of terrorist attacks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The topics of these courses are ranging from <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foreigners.cz\/real-estate\/apartment\/rent\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>housing<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or problem solving to tradition, <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.foreigners.cz\/tip-trip-mikulov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">culture<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, domestic violence and gender equality. So far these courses are only optional, however, from January 2021 they will be mandatory and expats will have to pay for it themselves. This is, at least, what was proposed by the Ministry of the Interior, but it is possible that it will change after the comment procedure.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_21895\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">According to a new decree, some expats would have to undergo integration courses.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h3><b>Who Are These Courses Intended for?<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These courses are intended for all new expats with the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foreigners.cz\/residence-permit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>long-term or permanent residence permit<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with the exception of those who arrive in the country:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For the purpose of studies;\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Investment;\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Protection in the territory;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Those who hold a card of an internally transferred <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foreigners.cz\/employee-card\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>employee<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Or those expats whose permit has been issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0Their length should be four hours and they will be available in nine languages in total:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Arabic;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">English;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">French;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mongolian;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Russian;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Serbian;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Spanish;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ukrainian;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight:
