Karlovy Vary

Karlovy Vary, internationally known as Carlsbad, is a charming and renowned spa town in western Bohemia. The city of Karlovy Vary lies on the banks of rivers Teplá and Eger only 120 km outside of Prague, which makes it a perfect weekend getaway destination. Carlsbad was founded by Charles IV in the 14th century after he accidentally discovered a thermal spring while hunting.

The current appearance of the city boasts a typical spa architecture – beautifully and intricately decorated houses from the 18th and 19th century – original buildings were destroyed during natural disasters. Here you can enjoy first-class bathing in numerous spas and wellness centers but must also taste the curative mineral water. Do not forget the world-famous Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, which is held here every year in July. Visit Carlsbad and experience a true European spa.
