Our Relocation Consultant Lukáš: I Like Happiness in the Eyes of People I Help

Lukáš Liber is one of the newish employees of the Foreigners.cz Prague team. He has brought a very good energy in our dynamic environment, dealing with everyday challenges with great enthusiasm and desire to improve.

Lukáš Liber

Ciao Lukáš, I heard you’re quite busy during these days.

Yes, September was a “tough” month, plenty of students are coming to the Czech Republic and we receive loads of calls and requests. I’m happy that the team has a lot of expertise and can help when dealing with so much pressure. Don’t forget that I started a couple of months ago.

That’s right! I’m sure that being a “rookie” must be demanding in terms of energies spent and concentration required.

Yes, it is, but it’s also really satisfying.

What’s your role at Foreigners.cz Prague?

I am one of the Relocation Consultant, my job is to find a home far from home for foreigners relocating in Prague, a home that complies with all their needs and hopefully exceeds their expectations.

What do you like the most about your job?

The thing I like the most is the satisfaction of relocating someone and seeing the happiness in that person. You become part of that happiness too.

And the part you like less?

The thing I appreciate less is that some of our clients from abroad don’t calculate the time difference and call me at 3 am requesting a viewing 🙂

Did you have any expertise in this field of work?

Not specifically, but I worked in a hotel for many years and that gave me the possibility to experience what it means to work with foreigners and the ability to practice other languages besides Czech.

Would you recommend your friends living abroad to relocate in the Czech Republic if the occasion comes up?

Absolutely. The Czech Republic is a lovely country, and Prague can be considered one of the most beautiful cities in the world, displaying an unusual combination of old traditions and antique architecture with an avant-garde atmosphere that makes it magical. In the capital city there are also great companies to work for and very prestigious universities too.

What about the disadvantages? There must be some!

Well, Prague will highly likely captivate your heart making it very hard to go back home.

You have a pretty international family, could you tell us more about it? Have your beloved ones managed to integrate here?

Definitely yes! My wife is a foreigner who doesn’t speak Czech yet… and she has managed to make friends, find a job and mingle with the local society. I learned my third language from her and understood widely the challenges that each expat coming here faces on a daily basis.

Have you ever lived abroad for some months/years?

Not for that long, but I have spent short periods of time traveling here and there, and I made great memories from those days! It’s always amusing for me to experience different cultures and food of course.

What do you do during your free time, when you’re not too busy with your job?

I spend my free time with my family, I have a toddler who keeps me always busy!

Are there any nice places you would suggest to go for a drink, a tasty meal or have fun in Prague?

I love the food and home-made beer they make at U Fleků Brewery and Restaurant, especially the Koleno one. I also like the Czech delicacies from Lokál Dlouhááá, and the tacos al pastor and margaritas made at Las Adelitas, without mentioning the fantastic drinks prepared at the Black Angel’s Bar. For dancing, my favorite venue is La Bodeguita del Medio, with live Cuban music.

How do you see your future with us?

Bright! I want to achieve different stages within my position in the company, grow my property portfolio significantly, and ultimately become an expert in the real estate field.

Thank you Lukáš, is great to have you here!

Volunteer for the Italian Red Cross, I enjoy good company, off-road motorcycles and pasta 'al dente'. My philosophy upon personal growth and future perspectives can be summarised quoting the words of the famous Turkish poet Nazim Hikmet: “The most beautiful of [our] seas, is the one we haven't sailed yet […]”.

  1. Hi friends at Foreigners.cz

We found your site, specifically the realtor, Lukas Liber, from House Hunting International. We love that show!
We are a couple of American/Taiwanese professionals currently living in Orange County, California, with our three kids. We will relocate to the Czech Republic to for about a year.

We are looking for a place to rent that has many restaurants within walking distance, has at least 2 toilets, many doors. Hopefully close to an international school. We don’t need a parking space, or outdoor space, balcony or a big kitchen. Starting date is mid-September.

Thank you and look forward to seeing you guys!
