Our Expat & Immigration Consultant in Prague: It Makes Me Feel Happy to Help Someone Who is “Lost in Translation”

It’s hard to overlook her long red hair and smiling face with striking glasses. Kateřina Lenochová is the helping hand for our clients who need visa or residence permits, translation, or a driving licence, for example. As the proof of doing a very good job, she became the Employee of the month of December in our Prague office!

Katka, how long have you been working at Foreigners.cz and what your position is?

I have been working at Foreigners.cz for a year and a half. My position is called Expat & Immigration Consultant.

Can you describe us your job?

My work is very various. I provide huge amount of different services which are much individual and dependant on the request of the specific client. Mostly, I help with visas and residence permits, and services which are related to it, such as court translations, assistances at MOI (Ministry of the Interior) offices, interpreting, health insurance, etc. Then I can also help with trade licence or company establishment. Basically, I can do almost everything which is requested by the client and make his life easier in the foreign country which the Czech Republic is for him.

What did you study? Did you plan to work in international environment?

I studied tourism programme. I completed my bachelor degree in Hradec Králové and then I moved to Copenhagen, Denmark, to study master degree in tourism. This programme gave me an opportunity to live in many different countries where I met people of different cultures and backgrounds. I really enjoyed this multicultural interaction therefore I always wanted to work in international environment and meet people from all over the world. Now, my job makes it happen 🙂

Katka studied her master degree in Copenhagen, Denmark.

What do you like the most about your job?

I love meeting people from various corners of the world who are connected by the one common thing they like – Prague. Furthermore, it makes me feel happy when I am able to help someone who is “lost in translation” when he tries to deal with some authorities, like foreign police, banks, insurance companies, and so on. The feeling which I have after I help someone is simply amazing.

As you said, you meet a lot of clients. Do you remember all of them?

Well, I meet many people every day, indeed. There are some I work often with, and I enjoy cooperation with them. Frequently, I establish friendly relationship with these clients. And sometimes I remember not only their names but even their phone numbers or birthdays 🙂

Where are you from? Do you visit your family?

I come from a small town called Litomyšl, in the Pardubice Region of the Czech Republic. You might know it since the local castle is listed in the UNESCO world heritage list. I am very proud of coming from there. It is a lovely town worth visiting. My family and some friends live in the town so I go visit quite often.

Katka Lisabon
Katka experienced sailing on the Tejo (Tagus, eng.) river in Lisbon.

You also mentioned you had a chance to live in many countries. What were they?

In past 5 years, I lived in Portugal, Taiwan, Denmark, and the United States (New York). Without a doubt, Portugal is the country I like the most. I think Portuguese people are similar to Czechs in many aspects. I love their lifestyle, character, food, wine, nature, and of course the capital city Lisbon. I go there pretty often to see my Portuguese friends. As a matter of fact, I am going to Lisbon in February for a few days.

What other places you would like to see?

I would like to visit Azores (if you wonder why, it’s the island which belongs to Portugal 🙂 ) and Iceland.

You are based in Prague now, though. What is your favourite place here?

My favourite place in Prague is Reigerovy sady, a nice park in the centre of Prague with chill atmosphere and a beautiful view of the city. In summer, you can hang out on the grass or have a beer in the local beer garden. It is just lovely.

What do you like to do in your free time?

Recently, I started to make my own cosmetics from natural materials and products, for instance body lotions, lip balms, face masks, etc. It is a creative work where I can experiment which is so much fun. Added to this, I do yoga and I have to say, I am starting to be obsessed with that!

Is there anything you cannot live without?

Yes. It is chai latté 🙂

  1. Dear Sir,

I am from India and I offer services for Europe.

As far as Foreigners.cz concern, they do not offer any kind of services for job placement but they help and guide if you have legal papers of the same. They help for study& relocation related legal matters including translation, accommodation, notarization of documents, submission of documents on your behalf etc.

If you know German language up to C1 level, you should try for PG program in Germany and there is good demand in whole Europe in healthcare.
