Every food lover living in Pilsen should be beyond excited during the month of May. There is simply so much deliciousness going on! Without further ado, this is a list of places and activities you shouldn´t miss during May.
Soup festival
The first event you may join happens on Sunday, May 12th is the 11th annual Soup festival, which takes place in Plzeňský Prazdroj, our well-known brewery. The magic happens right before your eyes because the soups are cooked in those huge old-timey boilers so you can see the whole process! And even if you don´t like soup so much, there is plenty of snacks you can get even without purchasing a soup. At the end of the festival, you can vote for your favorite meal, so who is going to win – Czech classic, exotic taste, cream or broth?
Treffpunkt
Another great event is the Treffpunkt in DEPO 2015 from May 16th until May 19th. This connection between Czech and Bavarian culture first happened when Pilsen was announced of the European city of culture in 2015. Since then, the Czech-Bavarian cultural platform organized over 10 events in both Pilsen and Regensburg. Come and join the true culture of both countries in this cross-border delicious cooperation! Treffpunkt is also full of exhibits, concerts, dance parties, workshops and program for children.
Fresh festival
Moving to May 18th to 19th – the always delicious Fresh festival! This one takes place behind the Plaza shopping center and always brings many people together. Let´s talk numbers here – over 20 restaurants from all over the Czech Republic, 15 breweries with over 50 types of beer, 10 wineries with commented tastings, 4 coffee roasteries, and 1 big coffee stage. I mean… Is not going even an option?! The Fresh festival is also eco-friendly and your tickets will do as a voting ticket for your favorite meal of the day! Besides tasting great food and drinks there will be cooking shows, concerts, and interesting lectures.
Burger festival
Erica Durance once said “We all need to make time for a burger once in a while” and I honestly think she was onto something. That might be why you all need to attend Burger Festival in Plzeňský Prazdroj! This juicy 3-day event is happening from May 24th until May 26th. You´ll find the best 15 burger places from all over the Czech Republic, including last years winners! You can forget about just the traditional tastes and dig into Vietnamese, Mongolian, vegetarian or ostrich burgers! The organizers also thought about your sweet tooth (I know you all have one!) and will prepare different kinds of waffles, donuts, macarons, crepes or ice-creams! And just like at the other events, you can vote for the best meal of the day.
