Czech Republic as a safe port for investment

According to our Property Sales Division Manager Marek Viktor, buying and selling property in the Czech Republic is a great idea for several reasons. One of the main reasons is that the Czech real estate market is really secure. “Given everything that has been going on in the world, buying property in the Czech Republic is a great way to put your money somewhere safe,” he asserts.

Another reason to buy an apartment or a house here is that the Czech Republic is a beautiful place. As Marek says, “Even though I’ve travelled the world, I always looked forward to getting back home.”

Prague and Brno are especially good places for foreigners to settle down. Unemployment here is low and so there are many interesting job vacancies available in both cities. Especially Brno’s tech companies are always seeking to fill IT and similar positions. In Addition, Brno is a great place to live in general.

You can choose to either buy property here and live in it or to buy it and let us manage it and rent it out to trustworthy tenants. Both options are good.

Helping foreigners buy their dream homes

However, buying or selling property in the Czech Republic is usually not a piece of cake for foreigners. This is because the real estate market – although very safe – can be too Czech-oriented. When you come here, everything concerning real estate and property is usually in Czech, from advertisements to real estate agents who don’t speak English and often don’t want to “bother” with foreigners

If you come from a country that is very economically advanced (e.g. the USA), you might also be surprised that the agent selling you someone’s apartment won’t necessarily be on your side. Therefore, you should bring someone with you who will be on your side.

More about Marek

Our Property Sales Division Manager Marek wants to be that person for foreigners in the Czech Republic. His connection with expat work happened organically: “I originally began working with foreigners by chance. They noticed I spoke English and so they asked me to help them find an apartment.”

Marek also worked for Brno Expat Center as a consultant for 4 years, so he has a lot of experience with helping foreigners deal with lease agreements and everything else around real estate. After 12 years of running from one apartment tour to another on his own, he’s now set to lead a team of real estate agents at Foreigners. This team will be dedicated to helping expats in Brno and Prague (end beyond) sell or buy property.

In his free time, Marek practices intense relaxation in the form of adrenaline sports, like jumping out of planes and bridges. He also enjoys travelling (he’s been around the world, his favourite part was Southeast Asia.) “But I don’t really differentiate between work and hobbies, because what I do is essentially a hobby,” he laughs.

    1. Hi Varsha,
I’m not exactly sure what your issue is, but if you email Marek at marek.viktor@foreigners.cz and explain your situation to him, he might be able to help you. If you signed a contract with the owner of the property, then that should be valid – but it depends on what the contract says. Marek is the expert in this area.

      Best of luck,
      Tereza

  2. Is it possible for a Student to be able to buy property and rent it out?
Is it a long procedure? What all is required?

    1. Hi Nes!
I can’t see why it shouldn’t be possible. Please contact our property consultant Marek at marek.viktor@foreigners.cz and he’ll give you information and guide you through the entire process.

      Best,
      Tereza
