We might not have a sea in Czechia, but we do have a beautiful dam in Brno, famous for the number of activities you can do here. Whether you are going for a walk, picnic or run, Brno Dam is a place where you can enjoy your sunny day!

What is Brno Dam?

This reservoir is at the Svratka river at the northwest edge of the city. It remains a spot for relaxation as well as a source of electric power. It covers an area of an incredible 250 hectares. The administrator of the is a state-owned enterprise Povodí Moravy, s.p.

People often come here to take a walk, mainly to take advantage of the nice weather. It is a suitable place for water sports. Furthermore, there are boat rides organized between the wharf in Bystrc and Veverská Bítýška.

How to get there?

So, now that we gave you enough information about what to do here, you might be wondering how to get to the Brno Dam. There are several options. Either you take a tram 11 or a taxi from Brno, or you can of course come by bike or car. It is completely up to you! The drive from the city center takes around 15 minutes. If you decide to go by foot, count to 1,5 to 2 hours walk.

What is in the surrounding area?

There is a Veveří castle close to the dam (15 minutes by car, or if the weather is nice and you prefer a walk up to 2 hours), as well as the ZOO of Brno (8 minutes by car or half an hour by foot), both of which we recommend visiting. Nevertheless, the dam is an attraction by itself and we are sure you will not get bored.
