And YES, we did celebrate it – fancy style! How?
All the current employees, alumni, partners and agency friends gathered at Barceló Hotel on the 6th December 2014. We started early, at 2 p.m.. Everyone got their Foreigners.cz name tag and headed down to the conference room. Actually half of the conference room, the other half was filled with people celebrating someone’s birthday, but in a completely different way than we did.
I hope we did not disturb them much, but I guess we did, because they fought back – their kids running around were disturbing out translator all the time and she sometimes did not hear a thing. Oh yes, we did have a translator. As you know, not everyone associated with Foreigners.cz is Czech. What a surprise, right? However, since most of us are Czechs, all the presentations, videos and commentaries were in Czech. We did not forget about the English speaking, though. They all got their own walkie-talkie and everything was translated to them. We never forget about foreigners, it’s all about the foreigners!
And what did we talk about? Well, everything! We were reminded of the beginnings of Foreigners.cz, former members, we shared old videos, photos, and we shed tears… But mostly, we talked about WHY we do what we do.
Petr Ludwig, the author of the book Konec Prokrastinace (End of procrastination) and mainly our beloved partner and friend, came to talk about our company’s vision. He and his colleagues at GrowJOB institute helped us develop the main ideas for our agency’s vision a few years ago. They were the ones who created the picture Feel at home. Also, do you know the picture of Charles IV in our company’s vision? We were not sure what he is handing out, so we agreed it is definitely Foreigners.cz business card. (Later we found out it is Charles University foundation charter, too bad.). It reminded all of us that what we do is meaningful and it actually helps other people. Not everyone can say that about their job and realizing that we all felt so grateful for doing something that has a purpose. Aww!
We also wanted to thank everyone who helped the agency to its current state. We gave everyone our brand new beautiful umbrellas, because Foreigners.cz has got you covered no matter what is falling on your head.
And then? Well, food! Finally! As you can see from the pictures, we did have a good time and wine. And as a special bonus, an A capella group PT Vocals came to sing for us. It was so beautiful! Everyone loved it and we are planning on inviting them to sing at our MeetUp Music. The party went on until about 6 a.m. at some bar, but I passed on that one and I have no rumours, so let’s just say that what happened there did not actually happen at all…
